Hi there! Like your website a lot. I found it while putting together a site for my own family tree. Our name is "Agredano" and like yours, is a very unique surname. But my genealogy search has also been difficult. There are quite a few Agredanos in the U.S., but I am having a hard time connecting our tree to others'. I noticed that you have the same kind of "family crest/name definition" document that my family has. Just to warn you, this crest may be incorrect. I recently traveled to Agreda, Spain, to try to retrace our tree from there, and found that the crest we originally thought was for "Agredano" was totally different from the actual Agredano crest in Agreda. TOTALLY. I think that those surname documents are for pure entertainment and cannot be held as absolute truth. So be leery. Good luck to you in your search! P.S. Gilbert, I'm glad I'm not the only one looking into my ancestral lineage. My mother's maiden name is Serrato. My great,great grandfather was Julian Serrato who married Angelita Cortez or (Cortes) - they had four sons, one daughter, Vicente, Octabiano, Juan, Rafael and Maria Carmin. My great grandfather was Vicente Serrato who married Gertrudes (maiden name unknown), they had four sons and one daughter, Francisco, Jesus, Grigorio, Miguel and Maria. My grandfather was Miguel who married Salud Solorio, they had two sons and three daughters, Salvador, Natividad, Aurelia, Sara and Soledad. My grandmother came from Michoacan from a village called Acuitzeramo. I am not sure if my grandfather met my grandmother there or here in the states. I look forward to hearing any info you can give me. Your research thus far is great. Thanks so much.

My grandfather was a Serrato, but changed his last name to Dominguez when his father died and his mother re-married a Dominguez. Looking for info on my grandfather's older brother (Perfilio) who would not accept the step father (Ralph Dominguez) and ran away. Perfilio (spelling) was born about 1899-1892 in New Mexico, then a territory. Will send more info later when I do my research. Regards Mike Olvera

Although my last name is "Serrata" I would like to add our lineage to your web page. The most interesting story I have discovered was when I learned that my great grandfather (three times removed) travelled the ocean from France. He was a young boy traveling with his parents and another couple. An epidemic spread throughout the ship and my grandfather's parents passed away. It turns out that OUR family name was originally SAENZ. The couple that they were traveling with were SERRATA. This couple took him in, hence, the beginning of our family as SERRATA. My father's aunt shared this story with me the evening before I was to return to the states. She lived in Chihuahua, Chihuahua. I spent three weeks with her visiting/meeting family in Camargo, Chihuahua. She decided to share the story because of my dedication with pencil and paper writing down as much information as I could on family members.

Nice website. Im 31yrs old as of 2001. lived my 1st 18yrs in Tracy California, now reside in orange Ca. Anyways, My Father Juan Bautista Serrato and Mother Guadalupe Naranjo Serrato who where born in Aquitzeramo, Michoacan Mexico in 1925. Record keeping there sucked due to a drunk priest who pocketed the birth certificate ($1 peso)money. The good/bad news is there a gang (a whole lot)of Serrato's who come from there. Don't quote me, but I believe that the Serrato's of this region are of Spanish decent. Probably settelers from the 1800's or earlier. Most of them are somewhat Euro-looking light skined and some have colored eyes and even very good looking he-he-he. In the 20' or 30's (or earlier)the Serrato's from this area bagan comming to California, and working mostly in farming. For all of you Serrato's keep in mind this small town in Mexico "Aquitzeramo" which means "Serpent is Master" Word is...this town is about 400+ yrs old.
