My last name is also "Serrato". My grandparents moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Madera, California in the late 1930's. My grandfather Apolonio Serrato had two sister's that remained in Arizona, thier names were Martina and Esther. From what I have heard my grandfather did have a brother or brothers? My grandfather had five sons, Fermin, Frank, Raymond, Apolonio, Luis Angel and one sister Mary. My Father name is Frank Serrato and his son's are Frank Jr, Peter and Edward and daughters Angela, Rosie, Cecilia and Jessie. I truly enjoyed this website. Serrato is not a common name and I thank you for making the connection with all Serrato's accross the globe.

Hi all you Serratos, I am one too. From what I know and researched, my family origin started in Italy and migrated to Mexico. From what I've learned, Serrato is said to be an Italian name. As for me, I am an International Blues Rock Recording Artist. I'm also Apache Indian from my mother's side. My dad was John Serrato, his father was Gregorio Serrato. It's good to see so many Serratos who are proud of the name.

In my research I have found that Serratos and Serrato are indeed distinct names. In some cases they may have crossed, more likely Serratos becoming Serrato. Serratos in my case comes from Serratosa a Catalan surname, most likely "Castillianized" as Catalans were not permitted to immigrate to the new world. Serratos is a very common surname and almost exclusive to Jalisco state in Mexico. I have found the Serratos name in Mexican birth and marriage records dating back to 1590. My interactions with family and other Serratos also points out that they are almost all Criollo. Famous Serratos' include: Ramon Serratos (Composer-music school founder, teacher of the artist who performed "Besa me mucho"), Alfredo Serratos (Villista General), Jose Maria de Jesus Portugal y Serratos (Bishop of Aguascalientes 1902-1912) and the undesirable Lupercio Serratos brothers (Guadalajara cartel-I'm sure they aren't real Serratos). There are many possible origins to the names-Serrao, Seurrat, Serrats, Serrat (Catala-not French), Serrato, etc.

Mi padre fu� Manuel Serrato Espinoza, naci� el 2 de Agosto de 1915 en kingsville, Texas eso tengo entendido, no se mucho de su familia y me gustar�a contactarme con alguien. Su padre se llam� Manuel Serrato Calvo y mi abuela fu� Abigail Espinoza tuvieron 3 hijos Manuel mi padre, mi t�a Yolanda de quien no se nada y mi t�a Emma quien tuvo 2 hijos Alberto y Lourdes a ellos los conoc� como en 1967 en M�xico, D.F. y desde entonces no s� de ellos. Mi Padre falleci� en 1991. El se cas� con mi madre Jemima Ch�vez Guti�rrez quien tambi�n falleci� en 1989 y tuvieron 4 hijos: Manuel, Abelardo, H�ctor Daniel y a m� Rosa Abigail.
