Was looking for an old friend that I lost track of many years ago.I visited Gwinn in the 70's and had an awesome time.My friend's name was Barbara Ann Farmer and she graduated Gwinn HS in 1968 I believe.We worked together in Houston.

My former husband and I lived in Gwinn back in 1989 while he was stationed at KI Sawyer. We lived on Johnson Lake Road. We had the best landlords...but I cannot remember their names. The husband was the postmaster. Can anyone help me out? My daughter (who was born in Marquette) would like to go up there and see the area. Thanks!

I appreciate the work of the chamber--great site and the guestbook is fun to scan for old friends. I am going for the current record for the oldest person to post. I graduated from high school in 1969 and attended Gwinn schools thru my junior year in 1968. Would love to see anybody from that era post. Lived at KI Sawyer from 1963 to 1968. Left in April of 68 as a junior in high school. Attended the new high school the first year that it opened and played football for the Modeltowners--Coach McCormack. It was a great time and place to grow up and I even enjoyed the snow.

My great grandfather built the house on Jasper and Pine. My father spent his happiest years in that house and at the swimming hole in the park down the street. Gwinn was my father's heaven on earth. He returned every year just to soak up those memories. His one wish before his passing was to return just once more. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Since my father's death I have made a point of returning every year I can. I have some old pictures of the house and town I would be happy to share if anyone is interested. We will be coming to spend a day during the centennial celebration.

My dad, John Benvin, was born in Gwinn in 1914 (actually I believe it may have been Austin, MI which he says no longer exists) and lived there until 1922. He is now 94 1/2 years young & still talks fondly of Gwinn. His father & godfather worked at the Princeton Iron Mine in Austin(Cleveland Cliffs Mine Co.). We have a copy of a group photo of the Princeton Iron Miners taken circa 1915 that includes his dad, Peter Benvin. Too bad he didn't know about the 100th birthday bash; he would have enjoyed taking part!

Wow.....I had to come back to Indiana to catch my breath! First of all what a great time I had in Gwinn for the last 8 days! The town looks great and I who had lived on Pine Street all my childhood life love the trees and the flowers that aline the boulevard now. Many thanks to the folks that had anything to do with organizing and implementing of the weeks acitivities. The weather could not have been any better, well maybe except the damp golf game out at Sawyer, but who cares we all had a great time. I would love to come back next year and do it all again. Gwinn will always be my home even though I live elsewhere - I imagine I am not alone in those feelings. Again thank you to all who made coming home something even more special this time.

Loved living in Gwinn! Lived at 232 Fortress on K.I. Sawyer AFB... Went to McDonald Elementary and then junior high school in the 80's. I miss the little ski hill behind our old house that just had a single tow rope. I don't miss the 9 months of snow/cold weather, but I did enjoy my time in Gwinn. Loved hiking along Picture Rocks and going to Iron Mountain or whatever it was called to ski!

It has been a few years now since I retired From the Air Force and left K.I. Sawyer AFB. I will never forget my two good friends while there, Mr. Veal and Mr. Hunt.
