Comments Excellent web site. I didn't realize there were so many others going through the same thing. I was starting to beleive some of my "inovative" treatments were unique, however, I now see many others doing the same and theirs are working too! I have managed to maintain my cat's quality of life now for 2 years much to my vet's suprise. Thanks to your web site I have picked up a few new tips that I think will make Whinnie even happier. It is nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks for all the information.

Comments What a wonderful site. I just lost my 14-year old Tas to CRF. Thankfully, it was rather quick for her -- I knew she was old so I did treasure every minute. Thanks again for such a great website.

Comments All I can say is thank you. Your site was a godsend for me when our beloved family cat (Figuero La Sie) of 11 years suddenly had a bladder/urinary obstruction that resulted in surgery. I knew something was wrong when I brought him home - he was getting more lethargic; I ended up frce feeding him chicken broth with a syringe. He was straining, but not urinating. For 3 days our vet kept checking his bladder and telling us he was not blocked. By the 4th day when I was adament, Fig was checked more thouroughly and found that Fig was indeed uremic (not sure of my spelling). The vet couldn't believe he was still alive, much less still standing. Turned out Fig's incision had reopened on his bladder. Urine all over in his abdomen and part of his bladder wall had already died. More surgery. Miraculously, he is still alive, and doing well; - that's our Fig. It has been 7 months. He is a CRF cat. I never even knew the term FCRF before this. I don't know how well Fig would have fared without the invaluable info & support your site has provide

Comments I was very excited to find your website. You provide a wealth of helpful information on feline kidney disease. I will definitely add a link to your site on my cat hospital website. Thank you for your commitment to education on this frustrating disease. You might want to consider more info on recent treatment issues such as potassium supplement as a PREVENTATIVE for chronic renal disease and avoiding urinary acidifing diets (which are hard to avoid these days)for this disease. Thanks again. --Jennifer Kissinger, DVM

Comments My cat, Bailey (as in Irish Creme), is terminally ill with this horrible kidney disease. Since the initial diagnosis came from someone filling in for my normal vet, I was told that we would give her a diet of Hill's KD. I was never informed further about the ultimate outcome and I wrongly assumed that the diet change took care of the situation. My regular vet never said anything more during the last 2 yearly checkups. When she became very ill last week, I watched her closely for a few days and gave her some pepto-bismol for her upset stomach. When she did not respond and became unwilling to eat/drink anything and I noticed her breath smelled like rotting flesh, I immediately brought her in. I was basically told that little could be done except for fluids and that she would be gone within a week. Thanks to your wonderful website and the information you have provided, Bailey is improving each day but I am trying not to get my hopes up too much. Finding out about being able to give the sib-Q IV at home really saved her. I asked

Comments I have spent the last 9 months caring for my cat Elliott who was diagnosed wtih CRF. This site was my saviour. After every vet visit, I would race home and read through this site to help complete the information our vet had provided me. Your site was wonderful in helping me through the emotional rollercoaster. This past Friday, I said my final goodbyes to Elliott and took him to the vet for one last trip. We both acknowledged that it had been a long and proud fight, but that it was time for him to go. Thanks again for taking the time to keep this site. It is what made this ordeal much easier for Elliott and I to handle. Thanks again.

Comments Thank you for such a helpful website. As you can probably guess we are beside ourselves worrying about our cat "Slicker" who has been diagnosed with CRF and has gone from a happy-go-lucky bounder to being a couch potato. He hates the food so I'm looking for alternatives to entice him to eat. Thanks for the suggestions on your site. I'll try them to see if they work for Slicker.

Comments Thanks for your great site. My 5-year-old boy, Ernie, was diagnosed last week with CRF. I was at my wit's end, preparing to say goodbye to him, when I found your site. He's still very active, and eating very well, but has lost so much weight it's frightening. Still I now have some hope that his sister and I will have good quality time with him for a while yet. Thank you.

Comments I just discovered your website last weekend and it has been a great inspiration in helping me to continue caring for my 17 year old cat, Tigger, who was diagnoised with CRF 2 years ago. She did OK for a year, then she started having problems again. The vet put her on k/d dry food and luckily she ate it. She was doing OK until last weekend. She was fine one day and the next day she was hiding, not eating or drinking, hunching over the water bowl and very lethargic. She has had almost every sympton described on your website. When I took her to the vet, she was curled up in a ball. My husband and I prepared ourselves for the worse (as we had done twice before). The vet said she was severly dehydrated and kept her overnight and administered fluids. The fluids worked. The vet called me the next evening to come pick her up because she was so feisty. (She doesn't like being in a cage.) I brought her home and she has been outside, all over the house, in my lap, and fussing at the dog. Back to her normal self! However, it's not goin

Comments Would you happen to know of a behaviorist who would help me sort out the dominance problems in my (cat) household? My cat, Maude, is 13 and has been diagnosed with CRF. She is doing well with her subQ fluids and Pepcid, but is losing the control she has always enjoyed over the other cats in the household. My two year old, Lily, seems to be the likely successor. The other two, Sophie and Gus (each three, not siblings) don't seem to be in the running. There seems to be a urination problem on the dining room rug - ugh! I'm not quite positive who is the culprit, but I think it might be Maude. We have three boxes in the house. Help!! Thanks for all the information on the site. My vet has taught me the essentials, but not a lot of extra information. This rounds it out nicely. Julie Sanderson

Comments This morning I lost my friend of 15 1/2 years to Feline CRF. Cassie was diagnosed in November of 1998. She was put on special food and she was doing ok until about a week ago. She stopped eating and lost her energy. For the past week, I have been trying to pull her out of this, but I lost the battle this moring. Last night, she raised up and looked at me like she wanted me to hold her. I went over and got her and cuddled her for as long as she wanted me to. She then wanted to lay back down. At the time, I didnt know that she was telling me goodbye. Shortly after this, she began to vomit and was not able to get a good breath. We checked on her this morning and she was having diffulty breathing again. She died about 7:10 this morning. I wish I had of known of your site, when she had been diagnosed. I miss her so much. The pain is too deep. I guess I needed to talk with someone and I appreciate your time.

Comments thank you for your web page. I just found out today that my cat, Sam, has CRF. It is the most painful thing to hear. I have been fortunate to have him for 17 years now. Your web page made this revelation much easier to absorb. I still hurt, and will for quite some time. But I know that I am not totally alone in my feelings and emotions. You have made a most difficult day a little easier to bear. Thank you again.

Comments Thank you for the much needed information. Our 17 year old cat Samantha survived hepatic lipidosis in 1993, thanks to Dr. Robert Justin, so she deserves a chance at CRF home care following her stay at the Warwick Animal Hospital.
