Comments Thank you for a wonderful site, I have finally tracked down my GG Uncle, Charles Riches, he was a gamekeeper at Featherstone Castle. He was from Riddlesworth in Norfolk and he married his cousin, Alice Howard of South Lopham, Norfolk. Alice's sister was my GGrandma. I have some very good photos of Charles Riches with his gun and gun dog, and his family taken outside of their cottage. Thanks Debbie Greenhill

Comments Was delighted to notice my Great Grandmother's name in print. She was Elizabeth (nee Batey) who was married to Joseph Railton. She owned a fish and chip shop in the Market Place. Their only son Isaac and his wife Annie (Hepple)are my Grandparents They arrived in Melbourne in December 1922 with their daughter Margaret 4(my mother)and their son Joseph 3. Looking for relatives named KEEN (Edward Keen, b 1851 in Haltwhistle, wife Annie and children: Bella, Hodge, Maughan, Jane A, Joseph, Thomas, Edward, and Margaret Annie - who married Samuel Watson) or WATSON (same line as you, John) my great-great grandparents were John Watson b 1829 and Ann Barton b 1844 and their 9 children born between 1864 and 1887 Emma, Julia, Henry, Sophia, Ann, John, Jeseph, Maud and my great-grandfather Samuel Watson. Having recently moved to the area I am just starting to research my parents' families -the Burrows/Henderson family of Orchard House Gilsland 1890s -1920s, Hudspti/eths of Tarn End Brampton in the 1910-20s, and Elcoats of Station House Gilsland c 1925. James and Isabella Hudspith lived at Rose House Thirlwall in the 1890s , - does it still exist?? Any info on Orchard House pre 1930 would be most welcome.

Comments I am trying to trace part of my family. I have John Charlton married to Mary Holm who lived at Waughold Holm until John died in 1812 at least.. Mary did not die until 1832 when she was at Park. They had four children at least. The boys were John (1796 - 1825) and Thomas (1798 - 1829). I have a note of Thomas being at Lambley House at the time of his death. I can trace some of Thomas's descendants to the present day but wonder what happened to everyone else? Thomas's son John has a memorial in Lambley church. John's son Thomas was at one time Mayor of Carlisle.

I can't find any of my names in your pages but there's always hope and perhaps I've missed something. I have Albert Watson b 1847 in Sydney. I think his parents are George Watson and Mary Cobham, possibly from England but I have no idea where. Would be delighted to hear from anyone who might have a link.
