Comments Gents: It might be informative to include a section in our VVA State Council web page a tab labeled "Deceased Members of District #." It will provide comfort to the family, respect to the VVA deceased member, and a means to spread the word that a VVA friend in our district has passed away.A brief obituary from his or her family members should be included. Just a thought!

I came upon your name while surfing the net and knew that the above statement would have special meaning for you. I served with 3/22nd, 25th Infantry Division out of Tay Ninh as an infantryman. Fought the NVA on the slopes of Nui Ba Den twice with numerous firefights in and around the area bordering the Cambodian border. Remember your Christmas in Vietnam? Mine was spent on an ambush patrol near the Cambodian border. After 5 months in the field, I was pulled to the 93rd Evac at Long Binh to work with soldiers suffering from combat fatigue. Over the last 10 years, I chronicled my tour of duty and the response has been overwhelming. With your military background, you may find it interesting. Located at the American Legion in Cherry Hill, the exhibition will feature the dramatic replica - stretching nearly 250 feet in total length - as well as an Information Center and traveling museum displaying memorabilia left at The Wall in Washington DC. Comments I tried to cultivate interest in a VVA chapter here in the Camden County area earlier this year. There was interest but not too much. Out of 32 inquiries made, I only obtained 5 positive responses. Most of the negative comments came from people who were near retirement age, and said they were leaving the state upon retirement because they couldn't afford the high state property taxes on a fixed income. My opinion is, the various veteran groups in this state, VVA,VFW, American Legion and others should form a united coalition of veterans to fight the rising property tax's affects on seniors. After all, a large portion of seniors are veterans. The thing to push for is dropping the school funding portion of the tax bill for senior citizens. It would go a long way to making NJ an affordable pay to live again, and maybe keep our veterans from feeling they have to leave.
