Comments I served in the 7360th Base Complement Squadron at Tulln Air Base from 1949-1951. Most of the time I was the Base Courier and had a close rapport with the 796th MP Bn, the 58th Army Postal Unit and Hq VMP. You have a very nice Web Site.

Comments In March 1950 as a 2nd Lt. I was assigned to the 569th T. Car Co. When TAC Comd was established in June 1950 I was assigned to Hq. Co. as the Motor Officer and Defense Platoon Leader. July 1951 was transferred to Livorno, Italy as the Cargo Operations Officer in the Port of Leghorn. Reassigned to the US in July 1953. Reenlisted as a SFC in March 1954 and returned to the Port Of Leghorn where I served as the Opns Sgt (Stevedore Foreman) until July 1957. Have many fond memories of Austria and Italy.

Comments Served with 49th AGF Band attached to A Co. 5th Inf/16th Inf in 1946&47. Transf to De-Nazification section, 7791 Hq Co, USFA. We were billeted in a school on Bastiengasse just off Waringerstrasse out near Grinzig. We played for a parade in Salzburg for Gen. Eisenhower in 1946 just before he left SHAEF, and for several in front of the Votifkirke on the Ringstrasse and other places in Vienna. Our CO was CWO Dandoy. At USFA Hq I worked for a Maj. Armstrong & Capt. John Eisenhower. Great site, Bill.

Comments My father, Walter Bent, served with the 24th Constabulary, E Troop, from 1947-49 in Linz, Austria. He passed away in 1999. He often spoke of his experiences in those days. I still treasure all of his photos showing him in his uniform.
